The Porsche 356A was a successor to the first-ever road car by Porsche, the 356. The 356 was initially equipped with an 1100CC 4-cylinder “Boxer” engine, which was later followed by 1300 and 1500CC units. The 356A was an incremental update that introduced the 1600S engine with a peak power output of 75PS.
The 356A underwent several changes over the years. In March 1957, the tail lamps were changed from honeycomb to teardrop-shaped, and later that year, the 1300 models were discontinued.
The 356 is one of my favorite cars ever made. Even today, one can see the 356’s aesthetic carry over to the latest 911s.
This year marks 75 years of Porsche. Here’s to one of the greatest car makers in motorsport history!
